I am frequently asked how I learned search engine optimization (SEO) and got my start in Dallas internet marketing, so I thought it would make good blog post. I started learning seo web design in 1999, before “search engine optimization” was a widely known term, by developing a creative writing website.

At first I didn’t even know how to link pages together, so it was all just one big long home page LOL, a free AT&T hosted site that came with my dial-up internet. I taught myself by reading everything I could find, and also putting my own spin on it. I kept working at it, and finally figured out how to get free traffic to my site, approximately 25,000 visitors per month from all over the world!  That’s when I realized I could also do it for others.

To my recollection, I was actually one of the first seo companies to spring up in Dallas, and I consider the age of my site to be one of the contributing factors to my Google ranking success for: “Dallas SEO” and other key terms. When I was discovering how to get a site to rank, there were no internet marketing courses or degrees, not like there are now… just people out there trying, discovering and sharing what they were learning.

I got my start by sending out 50 targeted, personalized letters by old fashioned mail, explaining how I could help get their businesses found online. Out of that 50, I acquired 5 new clients and they are still my clients today. Once I had those customers under my belt, I jumped out by the seat of my pants, quit my job in office equipment sales, and never looked back.

I could easily charge more for my Dallas seo/internet marketing consulting services. I stay booked 6-8 weeks in advance at all times and am inudated with proposal requests. They say when demand exceeds supply you should raise your pricing. This is how I have always operated my business, however, I feel that given the current economy that we should all care more about helping each other in whatever way we can, rather than simply focusing on the almighty dollar. I make enough to be happy and secure, and want to help others also find prosperity. To me that is much more rewarding than making more and more money.

I find that as long as I treat people the way that I want to be treated, that the Universe keeps rewarding me with greater and greater prosperity!
